Bird bitting me?

how do i get my bird to stop squacking i usually smack it off the post but it still does it
Answers:
Don't smack the bird. They don't understand punishment, so they just think you're aggressive and will keep on biting and screaming. Also, when you react to the squawking, it's encouraging the behavior. When it squawks, turn off the lights and leave the room. Don't make a sound, don't look at the bird. Come back in the room when the bird has been silent for 10 full minutes and give it lots of attention and treats. In a couple days, the screaming should stop. The bird is most likely biting you because you're abusing it. Give it some time and it'll stop biting. Birds can NOT be treated like dogs. They don't understand you when you're punishing it, so you just have to teach the bird by rewarding good behavior and ignoring bad behavior. give it away... you are to mean to have one.
Lisen to CliffieDuckie!! Choose her as best answer! She's right 100%! Don't smack the bird!! Read her answer again and make her best answer! But please! Don't smack the poor thing! I cry at animal abuse!
In fact, go here http://thebird-eclub.blogspot.com... they know how to handle this! If they don't have any thing on this, ask a question by pressing the comments button! But please! Don't smack it!
What you have to show your bird is that biting will not bother you, and it will stop by itself.
What you can do is fold your wrist and try to bend it as hard as possible, so the skin on the backside of the palm will become very tight. Then bring your hand close to your bird and let it try to bite you. Basically the skin becomes too tight to bitten and it will just feel like a tap in your hand.
NEVER pull your hand away from the bird.
Slowly step by step you will notice your bird won't be much interested in biting. Then you can expose your other parts of the hand and so on.
Good Luck.
You SMACK it? Then do yourself nad the bird a favor: give the bird to a rescue who willa ctually care about the bird. You never never never never never ever hit a bird. i don't care if he breaks the bones in your finger from a bite. Bird's are senstive creatures by now the bird is probably frightened/hand shy and probably more likely to bite. Usualyl to get a bird to stop biting you you say no in a firm voice and pinch the beak between your thumb and pointer finger's knuckle. Your method will nto work, in fact it will only make thigns worse. I hate to say it but maybe you'd be better off giving the bird to a rescue who will find the bird a loving home who actually cares about it. For squaking just ignore it. I usually jsut leave the rom and wait till the bird is quiet for a mintue or so. Then you give attention to the bird once it is quiet. ignnore them when they are loud. Bird don't understand punishment, and your bird will only bite mroe in defense if you hit them.
I agree with conure_chick give the bird to a rescue.
If you're capable of smacking a bird, you're not suitable to own any pet bird or pet %26 train it.
Give the bird up.
You're an idiot!
