Birds? that can talk?

is there a bird that can actualy understand what they are saying not just mocking? like really! smart
Answers:
African Greys %26 eclectus parrots both have the same talking ability.
Both also require a great deal of research into them before considering getting them.
African greys can, becaues of the Alex study. Look up the Alex Foundation on google. he can udnerstood questions asked to him and answer them as well as tell humans what he wants. I think only the larger parrots have this ability but I don't know. But the Alex study is showing how smart birds are.
a parrot silly!!
yea they're called women.
i would strongly recomend an african grey parrat because they are the best talkers. also many other birds can learn to talk like for example parakeets, parrots macaws and many others
some african greys have the intelligence of a 5 year old
it is said that they can understand you but it is still in study some say mocking some say really talking
Buy a corella. My friend has one of them and the bird talks.
It may take a few months or weeks for it to talk. =O
Yes, many parrots can be taught to speak in context. Some species that have done this include african greys, amazons, quakers, rainbow lorikeets, eclectus, budgies... but really any species probably can.
Some people do this by teaching their parrot to speak the same way they would teach a human child to speak.
You need to teach the bird that certain words are associated with certain objects or actions. A lot of things they will pick up on their own just by studying what you and everyone else does.
There have been a few instances, particulary with african greys, where they have even made up their own words (by mixing words they already knew) to describe something they don't have a name for. For example, 'cork nut' for almond and 'pretty smelling medicine' for aromatherpy are phrases made up by parrots.
EDIT: The person that gave me a thumbs down, I'm curious to know why? Please message me if you can, I would appreciate it, thanks.
Quaker parrots
mine talks, and he does not mimic , he'll laugh when somthing is funny - even if it is just funny to him - mainly when he bites me, he thinks it's hillarious , if he hears some one burp or fart he laughs his lil green butt off , he'll tell you peek a boo when you uncover his cage, if your not right beside him when your talking to him, he will tell you "come here", he'll tell you hello and good bye when you leave the house or the room, he'll also tell you good nite right before he climbs into his lil hut to go to bed ,when you ask him what a dog says he'll start barking/ whining like a dog, ask him what a chicken says he clucks like one, ask him what a duck says and you get a duck sound, he'll ask you to scratch him, and if you don't get the right spot he'll keep saying Scratch untill you hit the right spot or he'll move his body so you get the right spot, he'll tell you Kiss Kiss then give you a kiss, and then say awwwww, or he'll rub up against your hand/ arm/ face and just say awwww
TO me NONE of that is mocking, because he'll say it at the correct times, and he'll do the stuff on his own as well, even if your not talking to him, If he wants my b/ f to get up, he'll start barking like a dog, to wake him up
You can go to You tube and look up Quakers, or just put Talking Birds ,, I usally search Talking Quakers, Talking parrots, and Talking Budgie parakeets
