Bird question?

hey me and my friend is argueing about this question she siad well i went to petland and i saw this sign bye the birds it said (parrot) i said ok then she said so there is such thing as a plain (parrot) i was like no i said there things like african gray parrot and cockatoo parrot and macaw parrot and stuff like that not a plain bird called a (parrot) she said yes there is i said no she was like yes then how come thats what is said on the cage i was like i don't know she siad cause there is a bird just called a parrot and i said no there not i siad theres all sorts of parrots now i need to know is there a bird just called a parrot nothing else just a parrot i say there not but i need another opinion

no, there is many different species of parrots.(conures, macaw, greys, amazon,lovebirds etc...) like there is no dog called just dog (poodles,rotweilers,greyhounds... etc...)
i suggest you call the place you were at and ask. any zoo could help too. i am not really sure myself but i think your right.

You're right, there is no bird just called a 'parrot'. Parrot is the large group of birds that have hooked bills and two toes facing forward and two back on each foot.
There are King Parrots, Eclectus Parrots, Princess Parrots... but not just 'Parrot'.
That's like saying there is a bird just called 'finch'.
Not that I am aware of. Any bird with a hooked bill, is considered a parrot, even a Parakeet...
