Are there soap you can use to bathe your parrot? or just water?

Answers:
Don't use soap! The only time to use soap is when your bird gets in oil or grease..and I hope a pet bird would never endure that. Soaps dry out the skin adn ruin feathers, just avoid it. Period. But you can add a drop off aloe in their bath water. Or add aloe water. Put only pure aloe gel or aloe water. both aren't exactly eveyrwhere but you can put that in the water you mist them with or even a drop stirred up well in their bath water. it adds moisture to the skin and the feathers as well. But even that is not necessary. Just plain water is fine by them.
Never put anything but pure water on a bird's feathers, you'll ruin the tiny fibers that hold them together and keep them clean and healthy. Just spray him with warm water or give him a shallow bowl to play in. Never scrub the feathers either, you'll break the fibers. Parrots don't really need 'baths', some of them just need to get sprayed down with a water bottle on mist setting from time to time so they don't get dusty.
Don't use soaps. here are special solutions called"Bird bath sprays". You should be able to get them at pet shops.
If not, check out the website at DrsFosterSmith.com
Dr Foster %26 Smith has about anything you could need for your bird.
never use soap on a bird. the only exception is in cases of oil or oil based materials. for normal bathing use plain water other wise you will damage the natural oils on the birds feathers which can result in vitamin D deficensies.
Hi DO NOT USE SOAP.. it will ruin thier feathers and irritate thier skin... If you are worried about a dusty dander on your bird then offer a dish with warm water in it for it to bathe in or on a mist setting lightly spray him/her with a spray bottle.. You can add a drop of pure aloe vera gel to the spray bottle if you like but thats it... The stuff they sell at the pet stores and the bigger chains in my opinoin is garbage it makes thier feathers look like they have something on them oil/ greasey look... Have you tried giving a shower to them?? My birds all take showers but when I first got my Goffins he didn't know what a shower was ( he was in poor condition when I bought him ) so I would put a perch in my kitchen sink and use the sprayer just a light touch to it and it will more or less trickle out .. do that untill they are fine with taking the sink shower.. then put him/her in the big shower they might get scared the first few times but they overcome that fear if you are willing to get in there with them lol. With 3 shower perches there really isn't room for me lol... Good luck and just go slow should be ok.
