Black and White duck?? What kind of duck is it??

I live in Michigan and we went out on a boat today and in the channel connecting 2 lakes there was lots of ducks, most of them looked like these ducks: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co... And there were a few pure white ducks that looked something like this: http://www.natures-desktop.com/images/wa... and then there were 2 or 3 black and white ducks!! What kind of ducks do you think the black and white ducks could be?? Thanks!! (Srry I don't have a pic of the black and white ducks!!)

They may have been Mallards with color mutations,or Mallard /Black Duck hybrids, which are quite common.
Oh,yeah, the people who are mentioning Muscovy ducks could be right. If the ducks had red on their faces/heads,then that's what they were! I forgot all about those ducks .
first ducks were mallards...and the black and whites might have been Muscovy, however i don't know how to spell Muscovy? hmm maybe that's right?
first ones are mallards, the green head one is the male ( drake ) all females are hens. the second, not sure. the black and white ones are probably what i know as ' muscovies ,' and i imagine there is some association with ' Moscow.' some pronounce the black and white ones ' muscobies."
The darker ducks are Mallards.and the white duck is a Peking, If the B/W ducks had a red growth on top of their beaks they are called Muskovies..if not they could have been a cross-breed. Hope that helps! :>)
If they had red around their beaks and generally looked gross in a cute way, they might of been muscovies. Did they look like this?

I'm thinking muskovy ducks...the most common and most likely. Could also have been Long-tailed ducks..maybe a female without the long tail.

The first link you had up was a picture of a female and male mallard duck. The female is the brown colored one and the one with the bright green head is the male.
The second link you had was a picture of a "meat" duck, or Pekin duck, or white duck. It's all the same breed, but they just have different names for them. It's the type of duck that you would see at a county fair because it is the most common one raised by 4H kids.
The black and white duck that you saw could have been a Moscovy duck. I'm not sure what else it could have been, do you have any more details?
could be a loon or an old squaw
