Cockatiels?

i need help my cockatiel wint go in or near the breeding box so whay do i do
Answers:
I have had a few cases where the birds won't use the breeding box. Usually it because of the positioning of the box, the size of the access hole to it or a smell they don't like. Sometimes facing the box a different way can help If the opening is facing outward try turning the box so the opeing is a bit more private. Make certain the hole entrance is large enough as most commercially available boxes have tiny holes that the birds won't enter. If enlarging the hole doesn't work try removing the lid. That has worked well for me.
I always place about 3 inches of pine shavings in the bottom of the box for bedding. The birds seem to accept the smell of the pine and it is also easier to clean out once babies are there.
One final thing is make sure the box is not infested with lice or mites. These creepies love the dark confines of the box and breed in the cracks of the timber waiting for a bird to enter to feed. As soon as a bird goes near it they jump on it and irritate it no end. It isn't common but is a possibility especially if the box has been used before.
Another thing to consider is the age of your bird and was it showing any signs of mating or wanting to lay eggs before you put the box in. If it isn't ready to breed then it will have no use for the box.
There are several possibilities.
1. You may not have given the bird enough time to get used to it. Cockateils can take as long as several weeks to get used to something new in their cage. Just give it time.
2. I don't know where you live, but where I am, cockateil mating and breeding season is over for the year! That may be the reason. If so, wait until next spring.
3. The bird may simply not like the box! it could be the wrong size, shape or color, or have the wrong smell. You could try a different box.
Good luck.
My parakeets respond very amorously to traditional Celtic music. If lovey music does not help your bird might not be into the other bird for whatever reason. Unless it is dropping eggs somewhere else, maybe you can put them in the box. Best of luck.
She is not ready to breed yet. Leave it in and they will breed when they are ready.

****Only breed birds when you are very experienced and know as much as you can fit into your brain. A LOT of things can go wrong and it is totally irresponsible to breed any animal without knowing everything you can about them****
You will need to feed them the best food, Harrisons Organic Bird pellets, fruit, veg and some seed, but seeds arent necessary. If feedining seed, mix in canary and budgie conditioner seed, not just millet and canary seed.
Give them soaked seed and sprouted seed during the breeding season and eggfood when rearing chicks.
If you were unsure what I meant by any of this, DO NOT BREED YOUR BIRDS!
You must also make sure that your birds are very good specimens, which they are more than likely not if you got them from a petshop.
Good luck
let her get use to the box. Also if the door is to narrow she won't like to enter it so maybe make the opening a bit larger for her.The door way to the inside of the nest box for my birds is 10cm wide and 18cm height. We had to keep making it larger until they felt comfortable. Also shred some paper and place it in the box they might get curious and go inside to investigate.some good sites to check out are
