Can you teach parakeets to talk?

Answers:
Yes, any bird with a hook beak can learn to talk (except for lovebirds--they don't talk). The smaller the beak (parakeets have the smallest) the harder it is to teach them, but it can be done. My friend had one that talked all the time and I had 2 that I almost taught. They learned to mumble, but never speak words. It takes TONS of time and patience. Also, if it is only one parakeet, he/she is more likely to talk. Your interaction with only one will be more important for it; whereas, if it had a parakeet partner, they are more prone to find friendship in each other and talk "parakeet talk."
Generally speaking no. They just don't have the equipment to talk. That being said I have heard some people teach sounds that sound like a word, but you have to listen really close.
Sorry.
yes you can.
Yes, you can teach a young male parakeet to talk, by young I mean less than 6 months, after that, their anatomy will not change. A female cannot learn to talk. A male can say a very limited number of things, like, maybe 10 words or one nursury song, and you may not even hear him when he does talk, it will sound like a soft mumbling buzz. You will have to try very hard to hear it.
No they can not talk, but you can teach them to mimick whistles. It takes a VERY long time and a lot of patience. Try taking him/her into a quiet place without distractions so you get more of his/her attention.
Well I have seen many videos on youtube of budgies speaking words. I think you are able to teach them to talk.
Yes!
yes you can teach them to talk, but it would be like "hello" or other stuff like that. but if your bird lives with other birds, or has seen its self in the mirror then it wont say a word. because if the bird lives with other birds then u cant trian them to do anything. if it sees itself in the mirror then the bird will think it has someone to talk to.
Hi Tessie: this is SarahBobby> I have a parakeet as well, and I have tried to teach him to talk. I read a book about Parakeets and it said you can teach them by repeating what you want them to say time and time again..I have tried and by my experience.....it doesn't work....SB
Yes. As someone that trains Parakeets in human speech, you certainly can. Ideally,a young male a couple of months old is best. Females do have the ability to talk, but do not have the vocabulary of a male, and do not speak as clear...
yep
male ones seem to be better talkers though
then again it all depends. if you keep more than one
they might never learn to talk
some are better talkers than others
but its definetly possible
no u cant its impossible to do..
