Answers:
I breed cockatiels and i also leave other birds mic with them there is no problem if the cage id large enough cockatiels get along grand with most other birds what i would reccomend is putting their cages next to each other for a day or two if you can this helps a lot usually and then after a couple of days you should leave the canary into the cockatiels there usually is not trouble at all at most a litttle fluttering for a min .
If you have a male and female cockatiel all will be fine UNTIL they want to breed, then they MAY not tolerate another bird during this time when they got along famously before.
Cockatiels are mostly fine with canaries, but don't try to breed canaries in the cage with the tiels, cockatiels will much prefer to steal nesting materials from other nests than build their own, regardless if they're in use or not. I tried it once and was baffled for a few months why the tiels were breeding so well when the other birds had totally stopped, until I realised they were turning into little hooligans and removed them all.
They are usually fine as long as all the birds can stay right away from each other if they want (cage must be big enough). I wouldn't put them together in anything smaller than a good sized aviary.
Keep an eye on them though. While some people have never had a problem, some do. It depends on the environment and individual birds.
As for me personally, yes I've had cockatiels and canaries in the same aviary, and had no problems.
