Can I mix a bit of apple juice with my budgies water, if a change the water every day?

Will it be good for him?
Answers:
Give him slices of fresh apple in a separate bowl instead. Make sure you pull uneaten fruit after a couple of hours so it doesn't grow bacteria or mold.
You should be changing their water every day regardless. Why put apple juice in their water dont you think it will give them the runs? Ive heard of vitamin drops in the water of reptiles, and birds but never apple juice..Whats your logic behind this? Give fresh fruits instead.
I think it should be OK
i dont think this is very wise, they are only used to water. it may give him the runs.
it should be ok as long has it not cider. you do not want a pissed budgie.
well the cornsyrup and sugar can hurt him .
i wouldnt chance it.
Our birds love juice. Think of it this way- Would you like to be restricted to drinking only water for the rest of your life??
If apples are OK for your bird, then the juice cannot hurt them.
There are a couple of things to consider, however.
Pure apple juice would be better for them than juice drinks with added sugar. Also its good not to go overboard with any food or drink, so I would save this for a treat item. Instead of putting it into their water bowl, we give juice to our birds from a special stainless steel coffee scoop that we bought for just this reason. It is the perfect size, and you can offer it to the birds while they sit on your finger or shoulder.
You also might want to consider pure grape juice.
Good luck.
It's not a good idea. they need fresh water. you can put apples in there but don't go mixing them!
I don't think the benefits would out weight the trouble. Plus you'd ahve to make sure it was all organic and where are you going find that these days? You should be changing the water everyday, whether you are putting stuff in it or not. Just give him apple cut into small slices. That's better then just the apple juice anyways.
Yes, it is good for them, but don't over do it as too much sugar can be harmful.
Well hold on you can do it. Just dont use stuff that you BUY. You can buy an apple [organic if possible] and make juice. Their is SO much sugar in apple juice that is bought. Dont even buy the stuff that says 100% apple juice. Make it yourself. And only about 1/2 a teaspoon per day.
Hope i helped!
maybe as well if a separate pot, there will be times when they just want water
No! apple juice is far to acidic and most contain preservative, as a long term breeder i would never give fruit juice of any kind to a seedeater, give him the fruit instead it will appreciate it more.
just don't leave it in all day.

  1. my lovebirds love fresh orange-mango juice. i never put it in a dish or feeder but offer a drop on my fingertip, maybe 5 drops total then it's time to go play (i try to be careful about sugars of any kind). one gets so excited she asks to come out if i have juice in a glass! it's a tiny amount this way. i have often watched wild birds tear up fruit on my fruit trees and guzzle the juice... obviously it is ok on their system, and i've never seen mine get digestive trouble from it. it's an occasional treat and they really enjoy it.

  2. keep in mind clear (filtered) apple juice is not a very wholesome juice. i wouldn't even give my kid anything but whole pressed cider-style apple juice and that's better when apples are in season in the fall.
