Budgie Or Cockatiel?

i was woundering what would be better a budgie or a cockatiel i cant make my mind up,also which out of the two are better talkers
Answers:
I am partial to cockatiels. They are very loving and quite intelligent. Cockatiels talk very well.
Just be sure to spend about an hour a day talking with your 'tiel and letting him know he is loved, and he will probably be talking before you know it !!
Both budgies and cockateils make awesome pets. Both can be easily trained (with patience from the owner).
Personally, I think cockateils are a little more social and more cuddly with people and enjoy petting more than budgies. They are generally quiet but can emit very loud calls. Budgies are more energitic and they chirp often, though never very loud.
Budgies are good talkers, better than cockatiels.
Cockatiels have longer life span than budgies, though they also cost more.

and
i'm very Sorry for being rude to Cockatiel Expert.
It is really difficult to get either of these birds to talk. They do talk. Their voices are rough, mine sound like little robots.
I have both. If you have the time and money, I would suggest getting one of each. They can get along just fine in the same cage. You will have to work with each one separately to train them to talk, but if you are not home all day, they can have a friend.
My one Budgie stands on the back of my cockatiels like they are a perch for him. It is so cute!
Good Luck!
I personally think that budgies are better talkers, and believe me I own one!
I also read an article on BirdChannel.com, and it named to the top 3 best talking birds and budgies were number 3, right behind African Greys and Quakers!
Here's the article:

I like cockatiels. But they have a nasty of getting sick and dying. Go with the budige, because the darn thing might stand a better chance of survival
Cockatiels are better talkers. They are also funner and can do more things. If you have any questions please email me.

And LittleBarney i reported you because you can not reserve you place in an answer. Very rude.

Hope this helps,
Cockatiel Expert
cockatiel
They are both great birds - it just depends on what is more important to you, a talker or a snuggler.
I must agree with Little Barney. Budgies are FAR better talkers than cockatiels. However, the cockatiels are great whistlers, probably more affectionate and may actually become a bit more tame than budgies.
There was a time when I owned (or was owned by) more than 10 cockatiels at one time. NONE of them talked but they were great at whistling tunes they were taught. I was a breeder of parakeets for over 15 years and even some of the ones who were "breeders" as opposed to my "pets", were very good a mimicking the human voice - mostly in short phrases or sentences.
Just remember that simply because you want a budgie to talk, and no matter how hard you try to teach it to talk, does not ensure that it will talk. Same goes for whistlers in cockatiels. Each bird is an individual and will have a different personality, just like people. There are shy, quiet ones and loud, "here I am, look at me" ones - which leads me to my next paragraph.
No one needs to report anyone for any responses to this questions but the Cockatiel Expert is obviously a self-proclaimed expert who is no doubt partial to and loves her cockatiels. She is, however, INCORRECT by telling you that cockatiels are better talkers. And, she needs to return to grammar school because "funner" is not a word.
Cockatiels are usually better talkers but they have a very loud screech which must be taken into consideration. They are bigger and would need a bigger cage than a budgie. Budgies are less likely to talk and i have only ever had budgies, they have their own little personalities and cna be really funny to watch.
Definitely a Budgie. A young male Budgie three/four months of age, would be ideal. Wait a couple of weeks for the bird to settle down, then start in earnest to teach him.Once your bird feels he is part of his "human flock", half the job is done! They are very easy to teach, you just need time and patience. With the correct teaching, your bird will have a vocabulary that will amaze you,and you WILL be able to understand every word!! I've never had a failure yet with any I have taught...
talkers?
neither are bettter but cockatiels are preetier and and calmer than budgies
Cockatiels tend to be more loving and talkative. (not sure if thats good or bad. Ha ha) Parakeets can be just as loving but they are more skitish because of their diminutive size. Cockatiels would probably be the better one to go with. But just remember. Cockatiels take a bit more time and devotion.
i own both a budgie and a cockatiel and they are both great together, so whichever you choose it will be the right choose. Or even like me you could have both.
