Breeding Budgies??

Hello, im breeding budgie's for the first time. I was wondering if you can pair up brothers and sisters. I know it sounds wierd but i was wondering if it mattered in the world of budgies. Please be sensible about this and give me correct answers thankyou soooooo much love you!

It is possible, simply because an egg needs a sperm to fertilize it and the brother and sister could accomplish this, BUT it is NOT a good idea because as other respondents have indicated, the chicks (even if the egg is viable enough to actually hatch) may be weak, deformed or otherwise unhealthy. The reason for this is that the siblings share the exact same DNA and that is what causes the damage.
A safer alternative is to "line breed" which means that you would breed the mother-to-son or the father-to-daughter bird. This way, the resulting chicks would only be sharing 1/2 the DNA which makes for healthier chicks. This is part of how show breeders (of dogs, cats and birds, etc.) manage to breed certain colors or traits such as size and conformation. Other ways of accomplishing their goals of the perfect show bird would be by purchasing a bird with the desired color or trait from another show breeder, or if the breeder has a large aviary and keeps track of which chicks came from which pairs, they can breed for the desired results.
Hope this answers your question and good luck with your breeding!
Hi,my dad breeds budgies and I don't think you can breed siblings, however you can breed the children of one set of parents to the children of another set of parents, if you know what I mean. How many couples have you got for breeding?
You can breed them together, but the results may not be pleasing. Breeding together nest mates (siblings) can cause genetic problems, weaker birds, etc. Inbreeding is often used to get a certain color, or mutation, of budgies but I wouldn't recommend it. The babies would be much healthier if you could find other mates for the brother and sister.
I have pigeons and when the nest mates pair up, they often produce dark colored babies with dark feet and eyes (which in the world of pigeons, isn't the most desireable), and sometimes has a worse homing ability. Inbreeding any animals isn't good, so try to stay away from it.
Yes, I have done this before.
They wanted to be mates non stop. I tried too separate them but they still wanted each other so I let them breed in the end and the babies were fine but DO-NOT let their offspring be mates with each other because you will have trouble with the chicks.
I have done this also by accident and the babies didn't look right when they were born. The chicks died at an early age
