hi there can anyone tell me how long it takes feathers
to grow i rescued my cockateil 6 months ago from a bad enviroment within the first few months her feathers were growing back lovely but now they seem to have stopped and look terrible again i dont think she is pulling them out herself as i havnt seen her doing it but she is looking dreadfull i have tried tonics etc in her water is this normal and how long does it normally take for them to recover or will they ever thanks

There could be many problems causing this.
I would suggest you first take the bird to the vet to determine if there is anything physically wrong with it. Mites or vitamin deficiency are possible causes that the vet should be able to identify.
If there are no physical causes then it may be stress. Rescue birds can take a long time to fully recover from their bad experiences. They need extra time and patience. Spend lots of time with your bird. Give it good healthy treats . Praise it and tell it what a good bird it is! In time it will come to trust you, and the stress should lessen.

Is she in a cage with other birds? If she is stressed out, she could be pulling them. How long have you had her? I would give her time and be patient. She sounds like she has been unhappy for a long time. Good luck.
I would have to agree with the first poster.Sounds like a stress thing. You might want to get some "bitters" spray. The spray is like bitter apples and you mist it on the feathers. I would also look into diet. If it is a seed diet.ween away from that. Go with a pellet diet, like Zupreem or Roudybush look for fruit blends tiels love it.
has she been checked to make sure she has not got mites or illness causing the feather loss
Your bird could be going through the Moult this is the time of the year when this usually happens she was probably stressed out in her last environment she then grew feathers when she settled down,Make sure you give plenty cuttle fish bone, soak some seed(Any seed) overnight in warm water drain rinse them leave to sprout, I also gave mine Dandelion Leaves, seed heads before they Fluff also if you can Willow or Apple twigs.If you can get from your local pet shop Hemp seed and soak as above these will fetch her back to condition it normally takes 4-6 weeks to come through full moult
