Can chickins fly?

Answers:
very short distances and up onto low tree branches..they are not very good flyers and do not fly like ducks and geese.
yes, i saw a neighbor of mines do it, but not very high
Haven't you ever played Zelda? They don't fly, they gliiiiiiide.
For a short duration, yes.
Chickens generally prefer to run but are capable of flight for pretty good distances if properly motivated. Competitions are held regularly, the record is I think something around 300 yards.
Yeah but usually less than distances of 6 ft (horizontally or vertically) Some can probably do more but they don't really seem to want to fly more than that most of the time.
no dummass chickens cant fly.. havent you seen CHICKEN LITTLE
yah just throw them from the building
Depending on the breed and how much a chicken weighs, kind of sort of yes. Game hens, which are very light and are the athletes of the chicken world, can fly a much longer distance than say, a silky which doesn't have the traditional feathers. Their feathers are more like fur because of how they were bred. Roosters are also better 'flyers' than hens because they tend to have more muscle mass. I have a New Hamshire red hen and two australorps and they weight about 5 pounds. They can all 'fly' about ten or fifteen feet. It's really cute because they'll run at full sprint and then just start flapping their wings like crazy. :-)
