Are onions toxic to birds?

Answers:
Yes they can be. While the use of TINY amounts of onion as flavourings is generally regarded as acceptable, excessive consumption of onions causes vomiting, diarrhea, and a host of other digestive problems. It has been found that prolonged exposure can lead to a blood condition called hemolytic anemia, which is followed by respiratory distress and eventual death. Safer not to use onion...
Don't feed raw. I don't feed onions at all, but know some do cooked. Buy why ?? So many other fresh foods items to feed our birds. Feed Boc Choy instead of onions, is healthier.
Avocado, apple seeds, chocolate, caffeine and cigarette smoke, scented candles, heated, teflon ( can be ) household cleaning products and the list goes on for toxic to birds.
I had never heard it was and I gave my birds some then a few years latter I heard not to do this .. Mine didnt die But I never did again ...Maybe it is a kind of them and I just got lucky not sure but when I did it was not on the list of do not feed
Yes, onions can be harmful to birds. They can and have died after eating a small amount (both raw and cooked).
Some birds may have seemed fine after eating avacado, chocolate, etc, but that doesn't mean that it isn't deadly to birds.
So yesh, don't risk it. :)
